10. Ocean Beach Camping Area, Bribie Island

Nestled behind the sand dunes on the far side of Bribie Island, this secluded camping area promises stunning ocean views and plenty of opportunities for fishing, swimming, and relaxing. While Bribie is the smallest sand island in the state, it’s also the most accessible. That’s because, unlike Queensland’s other three sand islands, Bribie is the only one with a bridge to the mainland, making it the perfect choice for a hassle-free weekend getaway.
The island features sealed roads throughout, and many of its attractions can be easily reached in a 2WD. However, visitors will need a 4WD to reach Ocean Beach Camping Area. Once you reach the Northern Access Track leading to the campsite, you’ll be driving along sand for the rest of the way, so having prior beach driving experience can be a real bonus, too.
On top of promising an epic off-road adventure, this campsite also exhibits phenomenal views of Moreton Island, the surrounding bay, and the many marine creatures that call it home. Throughout your time here, you’ll want to keep an eye on the deep blue waters of the Coral Sea, as dolphins, turtles, and even whales are regularly spotted swimming beyond the shore.

These forests are home to a variety of iconic Aussie animals, so there’s plenty to spot while you’re here, including red-necked pademelons, yellow-bellied gliders, brushtail possums, koalas, bandicoots, and more.
If you feel like venturing a little further, you could also head to the nearby town of Kenilworth, where you’ll find plenty of shops, cafes, and more to pass the time. Visitors can spend their time unwinding by the campfire, watching the local wildlife, exploring the surrounding 4WD tracks and walking trails, or swimming and kayaking along the calm creek waters.
The grounds can be accessed via 2WD along Kilcoy-Murgon Road (unsealed access road) or via 4WD along Sunday Creek Road or Yabba Creek Road. Upon arrival, you’ll find plenty of space to set up camp, as well as water facilities (non-potable), flush toilets (including wheelchair accessible), fire rings, picnic areas, and more.
2. Amity Point Camping Ground, Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island)
