Excellent quality and built very tough. I think it could be made at a better angle to take up.less clearance and give a closer fit . Installation took 20 minutes , great stuff overall

  2. Sarah M (verified owner)

Amazing quality and thickness for the bash plates for our Jimny 5 door. Very quick in making them and delivery, thank you very much. We also decided to go stainless steel.

  3. Mark Duddridge (verified owner)

Easy to fit and looks like it will offer some decent extra protection.
Came with a couple of stickers which was a nice touch and price v quality was on point.
As an ex sheetmetal worker I rated the finish no burrs or cracks on any corners or folds.

  4. Wayne in SADelaide (verified owner)

Great kit. Great fun fitting without a hoist.
So the task of saving the under body gear well

  5. Jye Halliwell (verified owner)

Great bashplates!!! Very very sturdy and strong. I would totally recommend anyone with a Jimny get the front end plate as the vehicle does not come with any forward facing underbody protection. Thus, your radiator and your rack and pinion steering system in particular the leasing steering arm is possibly subject to damage by rocks and debris as well as front end abrasion, it also protects the diff housing. Additionally, for the people that are not doing crazy off-road, it prevents sand, mud and dirt from being flicked up into the engine bay and keeps things a bit cleaner. It also stops the underbody wash / underbody washing from completely saturating your engine. The bash plates come in some really cool colours with regards to the painted options, and is a nice gloss two pack finish like the vehicles paint. Lastly, when I fitted the plates to my Jimny, I had a small fitment issue and after contacting custom off-road there customer support is amazing and helped get it all worked out and sorted. Thanks very much guys!!!!

The product is superb and is of great quality! I traveled from NZ to Brissy for work and Simon and Mat were both very helpful.

Mat even dropped the bash plate to the hotel I was staying at just to make sure that I get it before flying back to NZ the next day. Wasted no time and installed it on my Jimny after landing.

I lost the custom off-road stickers for whatever reason which is a bummer. It would have looked good on my rear window!

Anyhow, Thanks to the Custom Offroad team especially to Mat and Simon!

I’m from NZ and was in Brisbane for 3days. Contacted Matt and Simon before arrival in Brissy. Confirmed with my airlines that I can bring the steel plate back to NZ (oversized baggage). Matt said I’m the first customer to ever do this! LOL

Long story short, Matt and Simon were super accommodating. Shipping did not happen as it would miss my departure date. So, Matt wearing his “Custom off-road above and beyond customer service” cape – dropped the bash plate at the hotel where I was staying. I do not know how we pulled this off but really, hats off to the whole team of Custom offroad! Especially to Matt and Simon!

Until today when I get asked how I got my super awesome bash plate. I tell the story and everyone’s reaction is “WOW! That’s so awesome!!”

If I could give 10-star rating I would!

The quality of the product is worth every penny. The customer service behind Custom off-road accessories is beyond impressive. I would recommend purchasing off this Aussie company.

  11. Christie Neilson (verified owner)

Fitted the front bash plate myself, was relatively easy to do. The transfer case plate though was a little more tricky due to having the long ranger fuel tank installed. Luckily, a quick call to Matt ended up with getting booked in and seeing what needs to be done to make it fit as well as install it for me.

These bash plates are worth it! I went out on the weekend and while trying to get over a fallen tree the Jimny I accidentally got into a situation where it was literally resting on the transfer case plate rather than all 4 wheels. Checked it afterwards, no damage from what I can see. These things are built tough and saved me from potentially a heck of a lot of damage!

A great piece of gear. Does what it’s designed to do. I’ve tested it! It isn’t too difficult to fit, a bit fiddly but manageable. Fits great on the 2021 Jimny with the ARB bull bar.

Why do I need bash plates?

Underbody protection or “bash plates” are an essential part of every 4×4 setup. They are designed to protect the underside of the vehicle from any objects that could cause damage. Ultimately, protecting the underbody of your vehicle with reliable bash plates comes down to a simple cost-benefit trade-off. As avid off-roaders ourselves, we believe it’s far cheaper and easier to replace a bash plate once every several years than it is to replace parts of your vehicle every time they get hit.

Why choose Custom Offroad bash plates?

Our Aussie-made bash plates are designed to protect the underbody of your 4WD from all kinds of off-road hazards, including rocks, trees, and other debris, as well as rust and corrosion from salt water. Most vehicles come with a standard protection set-up that’s usually only 1.5mm thick or made from flimsy materials such as plastic. These standard protection plates can typically only handle one hit before they need to be replaced.

As true 4WD enthusiasts, we wanted to create a product that would allow us to tackle even the toughest tracks without compromising the most vulnerable parts of our vehicles. That’s why all our bash plates are made from durable stainless steel and are a minimum of 3mm thick. Unlike other products on the market, these premium plates are designed to take hit after hit so your vehicle will make it through its 4×4 adventure every time. Be prepared; bash your plates and not the vulnerable areas of your 4WD.

What thickness should I get?

The ideal thickness depends upon the vehicle and what kind of four-wheel driving you are doing most often. Thicker is not always better, since the plate needs to absorb as well as deflect any impact. For this reason, we’ve designed bash plates that are not only 3mm to 4mm thick but also have some flex in them as well. If you are unsure which of our custom bash plates is right for you, we’d be happy to advise on what option would best suit your needs.
Check out our FAQ page or get in touch with us for more information about what kinds of plates are best for your vehicle.

How do you ensure quality and durability?

A lot of products today (think TVs, fridges, and laptops) have a product lifetime designed into them. They last a few years, and then stop working almost like clockwork so that you have to replace them with the latest model. At Custom Offroad, our bash plates and 4WD accessories are exactly the opposite of this. These premium plates are made out of tough stainless steel and are expertly designed to endure the toughest off-road conditions, prolonging the life of your 4×4 for years to come.

To ensure our bash plates can withstand the test of time, we prioritise quality during every stage of our design and manufacturing process, including our choice of materials. We know that stainless steel is preferable over other less durable materials such as plastic or aluminium, especially if you plan on doing any beach driving. That’s why we’ve created the ultimate stainless steel bash plates that hold up well against harsh conditions and highly corrosive elements such as salt water, ensuring the utmost quality and durability.

Do you provide after-sales support?

Yes! At Custom Offroad Accessories, we are constantly looking for new ways to improve our customer service and product offerings. We endeavour to find the best possible solutions for your particular needs and seek to maintain good customer relationships throughout the entire lifetime of our products. We want you to get the best possible use out of our bash plates, and encourage you to contact us with any questions, comments, or feedback you might have.

Is it in stock?

Our aim is to consistently maintain our stock levels so that we can get our plates to you as soon as poosible. However, in the event your plate is unavailable, the turnaround is generally between 1 to 2 weeks. This timeframe is well below the industry average as our plates are made right here in Brisbane, Australia!

What is a Diff Drop?

A diff drop is a modification that physically lowers your diff away from the chassis in order to bring the CV angles back into alignment and closer to the factory specifications. Ultimately, the reason for considering a diff drop is to minimise the CV shaft angle that is increased by the addition of a suspension lift. As a general rule, if you have lifted your suspension by at least 2 inches then you should consider dropping the diff!

Does it fit with my brand of Diff Drop/Bull Bar?

Our plates are designed to fit with a large range of bull bar setups. If your 4WD currently retains the factory plates, and has a bull bar installed, then our plates will fit. The majority of our bash plates support a diff drop, however, we advise you consult the individual product pages for more information regarding the make and model of the 4WD you wish to fit plates to.

Stainless or Mild Steel?

After countless 4wd trips the one thing I kept replacing the most was my underbody protection. Although they did get a good beating the main problem was the rust factor, especially from my love of beach driving.

My car would look great all polished and washed except for underneath that was bent out of shape and covered with surface rust. I designed a set out of stainless steel because of the resistance to corrosion and the strength to get a better, more durable life out of my bash plates.

The stainless steel comes in a 2b matte grey finish which holds up great against scratching and with the extra strength of the stainless I’ve tried my best to knock them out of shape with no success. If you are after a bash plate that you would like to put on and not have to change every 6 months stainless is the way to go.

What is the Weight of the Plates?

Built using high-quality stainless steel, our Bash Plates provide the perfect weight to strength ratio for your 4×4. As each Make and Model is different so too is the weight of each plate. However, as a general rule, a 3 piece set of 3mm thickness, usually weighs between 24kg & 30kg, while a 3 piece set of 4mm thickness, usually weighs between 35kg & 40kg.

Please consult the product page of the vehicle you’re interested in for an accurate weight for your make and model of 4×4.
